Rough Chronology

1787 – The proposed Constitution of the United States is approved and transmitted to the states for ratification.

1789 – The Constitution of the United States becomes the supreme law of the land.

The Constitution states, “No Person holding any Office of Profit or Trust under them, shall, without the Consent of the Congress, accept of any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince, or foreign State.”

The Constitution further states, “The President, Vice President and all Civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.”

2017 – President Trump states, “I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.”

Federal law states it is illegal for “a person to solicit, accept, or receive a contribution or donation of money or other thing of value, or to make an express or implied promise to make a contribution or donation, in connection with a Federal, State, or local election.”

2019 – Asked if he would accept anything of value from a foreign national in connection with a U.S. election, President Trump states, “They have information. I think I’d take it.”

2019 – While withholding security aid from a foreign power, President Trump states (to a foreign national serving as president of that foreign power), “I would like you to do us a favor though…” “The other thing, there’s a lot of talk about Biden’s son…”

2019 – Asked about the same foreign power, President Trump states, “I would think that if they were honest about it, they’d start a major investigation into the Bidens. It’s a very simple answer.”

2019 – While in trade talks with a different foreign power, President Trump states, “If they don’t do what we want, we have tremendous power.” “Likewise, China should start an investigation into the Bidens.”

2019 – President Trump refuses to cooperate with a coequal branch of government and the chamber of the United States Congress that has sole power of impeachment.

1215 to Present (common law) – The king is subject to the law of the land. “No one is above the law.”
